Aeronautical competitions, where every pilot, flying on a hotairbaloon, also performs a sporting task, have been held for a long time. There are already a lot of tasks. One of them is named in memory of the sponsor of the first competition, which took place in 1906 in Paris.
Gordon Bennett Memorial: The purpose of the exercise is to drop the marker as close as possible to the target within the specified area. Athletes receive a description of the zone and target before the start.
"Smooth landing approach": The exercise is similar to the previous one, with the difference that there may be several zones and the time of target destruction is limited. Moreover, the time limit for different zones may differ.
"Race in the test area": Participants must reach the test area and drop the marker as soon as possible from the start. A description of the test area is provided before the start.
"Elbow or angle": The purpose of the exercise is to change the direction of flight at a minimum angle. The angle is determined by three points. Point A is the starting point. Point B is the place of turn. Point C is the place of landing. If the exercise is performed without starting and landing, then all points are determined by the dropped markers.
"Earth Flight or Triangle": Athletes should describe the triangle inside the test area. The larger the area of the triangle, the better.
"Minimum distance": The purpose of the exercise after a fixed time after the start to drop the marker as close as possible to the point of separation of the basket of the ball from the ground.
"Shortest flight": The pilot must move the balloon from the starting point to the established test zone and drop the marker as close as possible to the starting point, without crossing the boundaries of the test zone.
"Double throw at the minimum distance": To perform the exercise set two test zones. The athlete must drop a marker in each zone so that the distance between them is minimal.
"Maximum distance": Before the exercise, the athlete receives a description of the test zone. Its task is to drop the marker within the zone as far as possible from the starting point.
"Maximum distance with two throws": The exercise is to reach the set test zone and, without crossing its boundaries, drop two markers so that the distance between them was the maximum.
